Fisher Communications inks a deal with crosstown South Sound Broadcasting to air their all News powerhouse KOMO-AM/Seattle on the FM band. The agreement displaces Classic Hits KFMY-FM (97.7), effective May 15. The station becomes the second FM talker in the market and will continue to air on the AM band.
"The power of an AM/FM simulcast is clear to all who follow the Seattle radio market," commented GM Jim Clayton. "We are excited about this opportunity to offer FM listeners a chance to hear the award-winning news product heard on AM 1000 for over 80 years."
Cluster PD Dennis Kelly noted that listeners had been asking for a fulltime Talk outlet on the FM band for sometime.
