CBS Interactive CEO Quincy Smith Exits After 3 Years
CBS Interactive CEO Quincy Smith will exit at the year after three years in the post. He plans to open a consultancy with CBS as its first client. CBS Corp. CEO Les Moonves said the company's digital business would now be run by former CNET President Neil Ashe. CBS purchased the online network for $1.8 billion in 2008, a deal that Smith supervised.
In an interview, Moonves said that CBS's digital business is now completely integrated into the company, which includes a broadcast network as well as radio and an outdoor advertising business. However, the digital business was the only one to show revenue growth in the first half of the year, rising to $260 million.
"We think we're in tremendous shape for the future," said Moonves, adding that other big digital deals were unlikely for the company. (10-29-09)
