Vilcom Interactive Media LLC, a North Carolina company, has closed on its purchase of FM translator station W253AZ in Creedmoor, NC, from Liberty University Inc., a Virginia nonprofit corporation for $100,000. Vilcom also owns News/Talk WCHL-AM/Raleigh (Chapel Hill), NC. Bob Heymann of the Chicago office of Media Services Group served as broker representing Vilcom in this transaction.
"When I was an undergraduate student at UNC, I was part of a group that was responsible for acquiring an FM Construction Permit for the student run carrier-current radio station, WCAR which became WXYC-FM," said Heymann. "Now over 35 years later, I am thrilled to be involved, once again, in the establishment of new FM service in the Chapel Hill area."
