Urban P1s More Likely to Wake Up to Cell Phones

New data extracted from Arbitron/Edison Research's Infinite Dial Study found that Urban Format P1s are far more likely to wake up in the morning to a cell phone. Half of Urban format P1s report wake up to cell phones, compared to 30 percent of Americans ages 12+. In addition, two-thirds of Urban format P1s own a smartphone, which is far higher than average, compared to the 53 percent of Americans ages 12+.
Among Urban P1s, more than four in ten listen to Online Radio weekly, is greater than average. Three in ten use YouTube weekly or lower than average. Urban P1s are above average when it come to use of social media. More than seven in ten have a profile on a social network, and over one-third uses social media several times per day. Facebook dominates, though Twitter, Instagram and MySpace show strong usage.
Urban P1s are twice as likely as average to follow their P1 radio station on Facebook. They are much more likely to say it is important to learn about and keep up to date with new music.
The data cited is an extension of the format P1 information provided in a webinar in early May.
