Alliance Communications Inc. of Chicago has agreed to sell 1kw Oldies WGEZ-AM (1490)/Beloit, WI, to Scott O. Thompson's Big Radio for $150,000 in cash. Frank J. Spula is President of Alliance Communications which also owns WPNA-AM/Oak Park (suburban Chicago). Big Radio is based in Monroe, WI, where it owns AM & FM stations and also has other stations in both Illinois and Wisconsin.
Thompson believes full-time WGEZ "will be a great addition to the Big Radio brand of 'live and local. WGEZ will move off the satellite and will be staffed by local people so that the Beloit community will benefit from seven days per week of news/weather/sports coverage with their five person news team."
Kozacko Media Services was the exclusive broker in the deal.
