Sale of Historic Poole Tower Complex Closes
RADIO ONLINE | Monday, November 30, 2015 |
The sale of the historic Poole Tower Complex to InSite Towers Development, an affiliate of InSite Wireless Group has closed. The complex was one of the last family-owned sites to operate at Mt. Wilson, the most famous multi-tower broadcasting location in the U.S. Rising almost 6,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean, the complex was first developed in the 1950's by late legendary Los Angeles broadcaster John H. Poole.
In 1952, Mr. Poole was granted the first commercial UHF television construction permit in Los Angeles for KBIK Channel 22. In 1953, the station moved to Mt. Wilson and changed call letters to KBIC-TV. In 1959, the Complex became home to Poole-owned KBIG-FM. Among the current Los Angeles stations at the Poole Tower Complex today are iHeartMedia's KBIG-FM and KYSR-FM, KWHY-TV (MundoFOX 22) and KXOS-FM.
Bob Heymann of the Chicago office of Media Services Group served as the exclusive broker representing Poole Properties Inc.
