RAB Presents ''Radio. It's On for Political''

Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) in partnership with Katz Radio Group and Nielsen Audio hosted ''Radio. It's On for Political" at the Union Station Columbus Club in Washington, DC, February 3. This was a thought leadership, content infused networking seminar focusing on the 2016 election year with executives from the political ad, media and marketing industries.
Attendees heard from RAB President/CEO Erica Farber who shared a presentation focused on the power of radio's role in the political arena. Nielsen Senior VP/Local Media Analytics Carol Edwards and Nielsen Audio VP Rich Tunkel presented data voter targeting capabilities that link currency radio ratings to political preferences and party affiliations which hopes to give radio a new edge in 2016 to deliver advertising messages to the voters they need to reach.
The event was capped off by a one-on-one interview between CBS News Congressional Correspondent, Steven Portnoy and CBS News Election Director Anthony Salvanto. Together, they shared critical insights fresh from the Iowa exit polls going straight into the New Hampshire primary.
"With 93 percent of the population listening to radio every week, radio, more than any other medium, gives political advertisers the ability to reach their audience and emotionally connect with voters in local communities across the country," said Katz Radio Group Senior VP/Political Strategies Pat McGee. "And now with the introduction of Nielsen's Voter Ratings solution, we can more precisely match voter behavior with radio listening, enabling campaigns to target key voter segments in more granular detail."
This event was made possible with the help of Illinois State Broadcasters Association, Marketron, New York State Broadcasters Association, Oklahoma Broadcasters Association, StateNets Radio Network, and Tennessee Broadcasters Association.
