Gow Media Acquires Lifestyle News Site CultureMap

Gow Media, owner of two Houston sports radio outlets, and sports radio network SB Nation Radio, announced the acquisition of CultureMap, a digital provider of lifestyle content in Texas. The new combination creates a multi-platform media company that is set to reach nearly eight million monthly.

"This is a strong, strategic step for our company," said Gow Media CEO David Gow. "We are gaining a beloved brand with a loyal following that has a reputation for creating quality content. And we are expanding our digital reach significantly, with the addition of localized sites across Texas and a large social media presence. We can now offer advertisers more demographic diversity, more platforms, and more total audience reach."

"We began working with Gow Media almost a year ago in planning The Big Texas Party for Super Bowl week in Houston," said CultureMap CEO Robert Bennett. "Our teams worked very well together on all aspects of the event, including planning, marketing, and sales. Over time, it became apparent that we could accomplish more together than we could operating independently."

Gow added, "We plan to share content, cross-promote, create bigger events, and provide larger scale packages for advertisers. The opportunities are exciting."
