CBS Radio flips Smooth Jazz KHTZ-FM/Houston to CHR as "Hot 95-7 FM, Houston's Hot Hits," under Program Director Jeff Garrison. Core artists include Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Fergie, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Pink among others. The station will air commerical free through March 25, coinciding with Houston's spring break.
"We've built Hot 95-7 for the listener," stated General Manager Laura Morris. "We don't pick the hits, they do. Every hour, listeners can vote for the top hit of that hour and we'll play the song at the top of the next hour. And we'll do that 24 hours a day -- it's the first & only station we know of giving listeners that kind of control."
Garrison added,"Houston's always been about making history -- from the oil wildcatters to the 8th Wonder of the World to landing on the moon. Hot 95-7 is Houston's next generation of radio, blazing a big, bold Hot radio station for Houston listeners."
In addition to on-air programming, Hot 95-7 will launch several digital applications, including streaming audio, text messaging, online communities, podcasts and downloads at HotHits957.com.
