Judge Rules Steve & Vikki Did Not Violate Non-Compete

A Superior Court judge has ruled that TV commercials airing in Atlanta promoting Steve McCoy & Vikki Locke's upcoming debut at Cox Radio's WSB-FM (B98.5)/Atlanta does not violate their 6-month non-compete with crosstown LFM's WSTR-FM (Star 94). LFM sued the duo last week for breach of contract. Steve & Vickki are set to start at WSB on July 1.
In his ruling, Fulton County Superior Court judge Alfred Dempsey said the B98.5 commercials can remain on the air. "Steve & Vikki were pleased but not surprised by the judge's decision," said Cox Radio attorney Jim Demetry. "They look forward to returning to the airwaves on WSB-FM and reconnecting with their listeners."
Reportedly, WSTR GM Mark Kanov says he has no plans to pursue the lawsuit any further. "We are disappointed that the judge ruled on a technicality, a loophole, and not the intent of the agreement with Steve & Vikki. Steve & Vikki did not honor what they previously agreed to."
