Cox Radio/Miami names Sharon King as Market Controller overseeing the day-to-day financial operations for the cluster, including WHQT FM (Hot 105), WEDR-FM (99 Jamz), WFLC-FM (Coast 97.3) and WHDR-FM (Rock 93.1). With her appointment, King becomes the first Black female market controller for Cox Radio.
King relocated to South Florida in 2002 to work as the assistant controller for the four-station group in Miami. "It was an opportunity to expand my career and grow with the company, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to come here as the assistant controller," says King, whose promotion became effective in August, 2008.
A certified public accountant, King worked as an assistant controller at Cox Radio for six years before being promoted. "Cox is by far one of the best companies to work for," King added. "Who knows in 10 years where I'll be; I'm looking forward to being the Vice President of Finance one day."
