WXRP's Pinfield Seeks Substance Abuse Treatment
RADIO ONLINE | , , |
WRXP-FM/New York morning host Matt Pinfield is going on a leave of absence from the Emmis AAA outlet to deal with chemical dependency issues. The type of substance was not released, but in a statement, Pinfield said that he had been struggling with "a dependency that I need to address," and that he would voluntarily suspend his morning show until he had completed the healing process.
"After a few recent slips from my path to health I feel it important to proactively address these slips to ensure that my life continues its positive momentum, "he continued. "I am so thankful to my family, friends, fans and co-workers here at 101.9 RXP who have provided me with such a deep support system and I want my fans to know that I am well and hope to return and continue what I have started here at RXP."
While Pinfield is seeking treatment, PD/co-host Leslie Fram and producer Matt Ianni will cover the morning show duties. The station will also begin airing PSAs dedicated to building awareness of substance abuse.
"Matt is an incredibly talented individual, who is facing a challenging struggle," said Emmis/New York VP/Market Manager Alex Cameron. "I greatly respect his decision and courage to share this honestly and openly. We are rooting for him on his road to recovery and believe with the right support, focus and commitment he can win this battle."
