KKOB-AM/Albuquerque Named Legendary Station


Citadel's Talk KKOB-AM/Albuquerque was named Legendary Station of the Year during the 2009 NAB Marconi Radio Awards hosted by TRN's Laura Ingraham at the NAB Radio Show Thursday night in Philadelphia. KKOB beat out the likes of KQRS-FM/Minneapolis WGY-AM/Albany, NY, and WMJX-FM/Boston. Lampo Group's Dave Ramsey was named Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year.

Jerry Lee's AC WBEB-FM/Philadelphia took Major Market Station of the Year and AC Station of the Year. Large Market Station of the Year went to Emmis' Talk WIBC-FM/Indianapolis, while Clear Channel's News/Talk WHO-AM/Des Moines took Medium Market and Regent's News/Talk WJBC-AM/Bloomington, IL, was named Small Market.

Clear Channel CHR WXKS-FM (Kiss 108)/Boston morning man Matt Siegel was awarded Major Market Personality of the Year. Bill Cunningham of Clear Channel Talker WLW-AM/Cincinnati took home Large Market Personality, WHO-AM/Des Moines' Van and Bonnie received Medium Market, and Lacy Neff from CHR WVAQ-FM/Morgantown, WV, won Small Market.

  • Urban WJMZ-FM/Greenville, SC Established in 1989, and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio. An independent task force selected finalists and ballots were sent to members of the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy in August. The ballots were tabulated by an independent accounting firm.
