Border Media is ending its Spanish-language broadcasts on four of its outlets in Austin on Sunday (11-1). The stations include Regional Mexican KHHL-FM (La Ley 98.9), Spanish Oldies KKLB-FM (Digital 92.5), Spanish CHR KXBT-FM, and Spanish Variety KFON-AM (Juan 1490). KXBT will become an English-language ESPN Radio affiliate.
"We were not sufficiently profitable in the Spanish market," said Border Media/Austin GM Jerry Del Core.
Austin 360 reports that with the closure of Border Media stations, the options for Spanish programming are limited to Univision Radio (104.3 FM and 107.7 FM) and Encino Broadcasting (1560 AM, 1600 AM and 95.1 FM).
