Rhythmic CHR WPOW-FM/Miami appoints Pio Ferro as its new Program Director, effective November 19. He replaces interim PD and consultant Bill Tanner. Most recently, Ferro served as PD for KMVK-FM (Mega 107.5)/Dallas and VP/Spanish Programming for CBS Radio since December, 2009. He began his radio career at WXDJ-FM/Miami before programming Spanish CHR KLVE-FM/Los Angeles.
"Bill and I met in 1992 when I was with WXDJ, but we started working together at KLVE in L.A. and we were a strong and successful team," said Ferro. "I'm honored to be re-connecting with him back in South Florida. I was raised on Power 96, it has been my goal to lead this station's programming ever since I became a PD in 1993."
"Not only is Pio one of the best PDs I've ever known, he's also one of the best people," added Tanner.
VP/Market Manager Joe Bell said, "Pio Ferro is a Miami guy whose entire career has been preparing him for a return to his hometown to lead Power 96 to new heights."
