Broadcast vet Rick Thomas is named Program Director for CBS Radio's Classic Hits KRTH-FM (K-EARTH 101) and Smooth AC KTWV-FM (94.7 The Wave) in Los Angeles, beginning June 17. Most recently, Thomas was Director of Programming with Local Media San Diego's Rhythmic AC XHRM-FM (Magic 92.5) and Rhythmic CHR XHTZ-FM (Z90)/San Diego. He's also served as OM of Univision Radio's San Antonio group and Director of Programming for Salem/Honolulu.
"I'm beyond thrilled that Rick is joining CBS Radio in Los Angeles and he is the perfect choice to program K-EARTH and The Wave," said CBS Radio Los Angeles VP/Programming Kevin Weatherly. "I had the privilege of competing directly against Rick in my first PD job in San Diego, so I know we are getting a warrior and a winner to lead these two great stations."
"Rick has a passion for radio, terrific instincts, thinks strategically and knows the Southern California market," added Senior VP/Market Manager Steve Carver.
"I am absolutely thrilled at the privilege of caring for K-EARTH 101 and The Wave," said Thomas. "I'm looking forward to working in concert with Steve Carver, Greg Strassell, Kevin Weatherly and the entire CBS Radio Los Angeles team to grow these two elite and heritage L.A. brands and to take the stations to new levels of success."
