The Atlanta Hawks ink a multi-year deal with CBS Radio's Sports WZGC-FM (Sportsradio 92-9 The Game)/Atlanta to become its flagship outlet beginning next season. The Game will air all regular season and postseason games plus pre-game and post-game shows. The station will also delevop Hawks programming with their on-air basketball talent including Rick Kamla, Sam Mitchell and Dennis Scott. Steve Holman will remain as the play-by-play voice for the team, which previously aired on crosstown Sports WCNN-AM (680 The Fan).
"Entering into a partnership with 92-9 The Game will create exciting opportunities for both the Atlanta Hawks and our new flagship," said Hawks and Philips Arena President Bob Williams. "CBS Radio's sports talk investment in the greater Atlanta market, the NBA and the Hawks, boasting one of the most powerful signal strengths in the Southeast, means more Hawks fans than ever will be able to follow and support our team."
"We are very excited to partner with the Atlanta Hawks organization," added CBS Radio Atlanta Senior VP/Market Manager Rick Caffey. "Danny Ferry, Coach Bud (Mike Budenholzer) and the team are launching a new era of Hawks basketball and 92-9 The Game is very proud to play a part in bringing the vivacity of the NBA to fans across the entire metro of Atlanta."
