Interapt Launches New WFPK/Louisville Mobile App
RADIO ONLINE | Wednesday, August 20, 2014 |
Interapt has released a new version of their mobile app for radio stations in partnership with Kentucky Public Radio's AAA WFPK-FM/Louisville. WFPK is an independently-owned sister station to WFPL-FM, Louisville's NPR affiliate under the Louisville Public Media partnership. The new mobile app provides several unique features to its users, taking advantage of recent improvements in mobile technology and smartphone features to maximize user engagement.
Since it was uploaded, the new app has increased open rate by 27x, with a 54x increase in its new-users-per-month and an increase of daily active users by 36x. Beyond just live-streaming WFPK's broadcast, the app provides resources such as a program schedule, a real-time station playlist, one-tap access to WFPK's DJs, and an extensive on-demand archive of WFPK's popular in-studio performances.
The app is also integrated with popular audio streaming services Spotify and SoundCloud so that users can access WFPK's original content on those networks.
Other features include push notifications that ping users when the app is closed while their favorite songs are playing on-air, an Instagram feed that pulls photos from the photo-sharing service that have a certain hashtag and displays them in the app with WFPK's custom branding, direct portals to WFPK event ticket purchases and integration of event dates with smartphone calendar apps. It also has the ability to Favorite and purchase songs.
The WFPK app is currently available free to download in both Apple and Google Play markets.
