The DASH Conference Set for October in Detroit


Since the 1930s, listening to the radio while driving has been a nearly universal experience. But, as the entertainment systems in automobiles change and more options become available, automakers and the radio industry face new challenges and opportunities. The DASH Conference this October is designed to bring together leaders from these industries, as well as suppliers, marketers, and others, to discuss and learn about how to take best advantage of these new opportunities.

"For radio, it's simple. The car is the number one listening location. And automotive is the number one sales revenue category," noted Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs. "These two storied industries need to form new partnerships to discuss the future. That's why we created DASH."

On October 15-16, leaders from the automotive industry, Tier One suppliers, broadcasters, advertising agencies and others will come together for The DASH Conference. Keynote speakers include Consumer Electronics Association CEO Gary Shapiro and Group M's Chief Innovation Officer Cary Tilds. Additional presentations will be provided from execs from The Ford Motor Company, Toyota, Panasonic's Aupeo division, Pandora and Slacker, Nielsen, Edison Media Research, experts from CBS Radio's WWJ and The Detroit News, Zipcar and Zagster, along with best selling author, Valerie Geller.

Jacobs Media VP/GM Paul Jacobs pointed out, "The connected car is a technology that has snuck up on radio. There is no more important agenda item than broadcast radio's future in the car because while the automotive industry is important to radio, radio does an outstanding job selling cars."
