iHeartMedia appoints Earl Jones as Senior VP/Urban Operations, effective immediately. Jones will be based in Chicago and will report to President of National Sales Jeff Howard. In addition, the company announced that Matt Scarano has been named Market President of iHeartMedia/Chicago succeeding Jones, who served as Market President since 2005.
Jones will now develop and implement Urban sales and programming initiatives and strategies to generate revenue for the Chicago, New York, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Jacksonville and Orlando markets, as well as iHeartMedia Urban stations throughout the country.
"I've known Earl for many years and this opportunity is perfect for him," said iHeartMedia Executive VP/Operations East Tom McConnell. "This new role allows him to take advantage of his solid relationships and strong understanding of the Urban marketplace and use them to benefit our entire company."
Scarano will now oversee all elements of Chicago's seven-station cluster including operations, sales and programming. This is a return to the Chicago market, where he first joined the company in 2009 as Director of Sales. In 2012 he moved to iHeartMedia/Atlanta, where he has served as Market President.
"Matt has done an incredible job for us in Atlanta driving both ratings and revenue," added McConnell. "He is a proven leader with a strong strategic mind and is the perfect choice to lead our incredible brands in Chicago."
