KLIO Flips to Classic Country Ahead of Wichita Spin
RADIO ONLINE | Thursday, October 16, 2014 |
Journal Broadcast Group's KLIO-AM (AM 1070)/Wichita flips to Classic Country as "Classic Country 1070" beginning October 22. The format is relocating from co-owned KFTI-FM (92.3). Pending FCC approval, KFTI will be sold to Envision Broadcast Network, after JBG was required to divest one FM station in its Wichita cluster in order to comply with ownership limits. The move was made as a result of the previously-announced transaction between Journal Communications and The E.W. Scripps Company.
"I am excited to return classic country to the legendary AM 1070 frequency in Wichita. That's where KFDI was born," said VP/General Manager Beverlee Brannigan. "As we get ready to celebrate KFDI's 50th birthday, it feels right to bring authentic country music and the KFTI call letters back to the AM band."
The Classic Country format will simulcast on AM 1070 and 92.3 FM starting October 22 up until the date of divestiture and will then continue on-air as "Classic Country 1070."
