Steve McCoy Joins WYAY/Atlanta to Host Mornings

Cumulus announces that longtime Atlanta radio personality and two-time Marconi nominee Steve McCoy will join WYAY-FM (News Radio 106.7) as morning host, effective March 2. His 25-year career as an Atlanta radio institution began at Z-93, when he moved from Nashville to Atlanta to take over mornings for Ross and Wilson. McCoy most recently served as morning host for Oldies KXKL-FM (Kool 100.5) until December, 2011.

McCoy made the move to Kool in May, 2010, from Cox Radio AC WSB-FM (B98.5)/Atlanta where he hosted mornings with Vikki Locke. Prior to B98.5, he and Locke were the longtime morning hosts with crosstown AC rival WSTR-FM (Star 94).

WYAY Program Director Greg Tantum said, "Steve has had a personal relationship with millions of Atlanta radio listeners for years. Steve's deep roots in the community bring a one of a kind perspective and understanding to the daily lives of Atlanta residents. Most important, Steve has proven he is the best at entertaining listeners and making them feel good -- even in Atlanta traffic."

McCoy said, "After months of fishing, and finding myself grabbing the mic at the supermarket checkout and doing a morning show for those in the meat department, I figured it was time to get back on the air. By the way I still get requests from aisle six. Seriously, I'm thrilled to be back on Atlanta radio and reunited with all those I grew up with. What makes this even more special is joining the team at News Radio 106.7, Atlanta's home for local news and talk."
