WTOP's Dave McConnell Honored on Capitol Hill
RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, April 21, 2015 |
WTOP's Dave McConnell was honored today at the Capitol for his many decades of service as a Capitol Hill Correspondent. McConnell was recognized by Congresswoman Eleanor Homes Norton by being entered into the Congressional Record. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senator Mark Warner also delivered thank you speeches in his honor.
McConnell who celebrated his 50th anniversary earlier this year, joined WTOP on January 18, 1965 as a reporter for what was then 1500 AM. However, he soon found himself behind the microphone at the anchor desk before transitioning to the Hill. McConnell has spent most of his career as the WTOP Capitol Hill Correspondent, where he remains the only full-time Congressional Correspondent for a local radio station in the United States.
McConnell can be heard live each weekday morning and afternoon, just steps from the House floor in his hourly "Today on the Hill" segments.
