RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, June 30, 2015 |
Talk WGN-AM/Chicago appoints Adam Hoge as the new Sports Editor-in-Chief for its digital content incubator WGN Plus (WGNplus.com). He will oversee an expansion of sports digital content including photo essays, live blogs, more podcasts and special streaming events. The first streaming event launches July 4th with a Blackhawks WGN Stanley Cup Marathon starting at noon. Hoge will continue to report as the WGN Radio Bears insider, traveling with the team and blogging from Soldier Field and Halas Hall. Hoge also co-hosts "The Beat" on WGN-AM every Saturday from 3-7pm and Sunday from 3-6pm.
"We live in an 'on-demand' world today and radio is no different. That's really what WGN Plus is all about," said Hoge. "I'm looking forward to working with such a great lineup of sports personalities to create the type of content our listeners and readers are seeking."
"Getting Adam's blog in the WGN family was a huge win for us last year and now we plan to capitalize on his coaching skills across our digital platforms," said VP/Programming and Content Todd Manley. "With Tribune Media's launch of Gracenote Sports, WGN has an even greater arsenal of resources."
WGN Plus listeners can hear the Stanley Cup games from 2010, 2013 and 2015 in their entirety starting at noon. Game Six of the 2015 Stanley Cup Final can also be heard on WGN-AM beginning at 6pm on the 4th of July.
Regular WGN Plus features include CSN-partnered Kap & Haugh Show, three blogs: Adam Hoge's Bears Blog, Jarrett Payton's JP's Presser and Connor McKnight's Super Utility, plus the two popular podcasts: Down & Distance with Jarrett Payton and Shaun Davis and The Shootaround with Sam Panayotovich and Big Cat from Barstool Sports.
