Savage Announces $100K Scholarship Fund Winners
RADIO ONLINE | Thursday, July 2, 2015 |
Westwood One syndicated radio host and author Michael Savage announces that five exceptional college students have been selected to receive scholarships for their responses to his essay contest entitled, "What Does It Mean to Be an American?" The winners, who will be named on Savage's syndicated radio show "The Savage Nation" on July 2, will each receive a $20,000 scholarship over a two-year period.
Savage launched the $100,000 scholarship fund in early 2015 with the intention of promoting traditional American values among conservative college students. Savage received approximately 1,700 entries, and the five selected winning essays honor the principles that America was built upon and discuss the country's past, present and future.
One winner wrote: "I declare myself to be a part of this new generation that will lead by example and reignite the torch of American greatness so that every eye from every corner of the earth might be able to see the light of liberty shining from America again."
"I hope to continue this scholarship program next year," said Savage. "There are so many deserving patriotic students who have been silenced by anti-American rhetoric at U.S. colleges. Hopefully these scholarships will encourage others to stand up for America."
The winning essays in the Savage scholarship contest can be found here.
