KVET Flagship for TX State Football, Mens Basketball
RADIO ONLINE | Wednesday, September 2, 2015 |
Texas State Athletics, Learfield Sports' Texas State Sports properties, and iHeartMedia/Austin have announced that Sports/Talk KVET-AM (AM 1300 The Zone) will serve as the flagship station and broadcast all Texas State football and men's basketball games during each of the next two seasons. The station will carry the entire broadcasts, which include a pre-game and post-game show. The Zone will also air TSA's coaches radio show featuring head coach Dennis Franchione and carry the Texas State "Bobcat Minute" updates weekdays.
"This gets two recognizable names together to sell Texas State University," said Texas State Athletics Director Larry Teis. "Having Texas State in the Austin market on a recognized sports talk station is great not only for the Athletics Department, but for the University as well. This is an example of the types of win-win partnerships that we hoped to create when we moved to the FBS."
iHeartMedia/Austin Senior VP/Programming Patrick Davis commented, "We couldn't be happier about teaming up with Texas State. With a football team that was bowl eligible last season and an up and coming basketball program, the future is very bright for the Bobcats and we're excited to go on the ride with them."
The Bobcats open the 2015 football season at Florida State on September 5 before returning home to play Prairie View A&M on September 12.
