Sharks Ink Multi-Year Extension with KUFX/San Jose

The San Jose Sharks and KUFX-FM (98.5 KFOX)/San Jose have jointly announced a multi-year extension keeping the Entercom Classic Rock outlet as the Sharks radio network flagship. The extension calls for KUFX to continue to broadcast live and in their entirety, all regular season and Stanley Cup Playoff Sharks contests, as well as select pre-season games. All broadcasts will include the "Sharks Warm-Up" pre-game show, beginning 30 minutes before each game, and the "Sharks Extra" post-game wrap-up.

The arrangement also calls for the Sharks Radio Network to provide additional feature material to both 98.5 KFOX and its affiliated station Sports KGMZ-FM (95.7 The Game) during the hockey season.

"KFOX has become synonymous with Sharks hockey since the partnership began nearly 15 years ago," said Sharks COO John Tortora. "We are proud to continue our lasting partnership with a great radio company. Sharks fans throughout the Bay Area are very strongly attached to the storied heritage of classic rock and Sharks Hockey on 98.5 KFOX. It is especially exciting to bring our full half-hour pre-game shows to every regular season broadcast and also to introduce additional features to our many listeners, beginning this October."

"All of us at KFOX and Entercom Communications are thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with the San Jose Sharks," said VP/Market Manager Steve DiNardo. "The Sharks' appeal unifies our community; we are proud to be the radio home for each and every game, as we have been for the past fifteen years."

The "Radio Voice of the San Jose Sharks," Dan Rusanowsky, will once again call all the play-by-play action and will host "Sharks Warm-Up" and "Sharks Extra." He will appear at 7:40 on Monday mornings with "Sharks Territory," a team-oriented segment during Chris Jackson's top-rated KFOX morning show. He will also provide a game-day feature, "The Teal Report," which will air on all-sports "95.7 The Game" and online at sjsharks.com, as well as morning Sharks news updates for both KFOX and "95.7 The Game."

Rusanowsky, a member of the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame since 2013, begins, his 25th consecutive year as the "Voice of the Sharks." He is scheduled to broadcast his 1,800th regular season Sharks game on October 22 vs. Los Angeles. Bret Hedican, the 17-year veteran, two-time U.S. Olympian, and Stanley Cup champion also returns to provide color commentary, and will be on the radio for approximately 50 of the team's 82 regular season games.
