NPR News to Offer Multiplatform Coverage in Iowa

NPR News is offering a comprehensive coverage plan spanning live broadcasts from a local coffee shop, to a new mobile hub centralizing NPR Politics coverage in Des Moines, Iowa around the 2016 election. Starting next week, early-risers in Des Moines can meet "Morning Edition" host David Greene as he broadcasts live from Smokey Row Coffee Co. Guests will witness a live recording of Morning Edition as it happens including radio cues from NPR studios in Washington, DC.

Greene will be joined by David Yepsen, director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Yepsen and Greene will host a conversation with the public about the Iowa caucus and presidential candidates. In partnership with Iowa Public Radio, NPR's "Generation Listen" will host a listening party each day, allowing the public to engage with NPR voices and go beyond the stories on air.

Special radio coverage Monday night will be hosted by Ari Shapiro and Audie Cornish and begins at 9pm (ET) and continue until results are in. The special will feature candidate speeches, newsmaker interviews and analysis from NPR's National Political Correspondent Mara Liasson, Senior Washington Editor and Correspondent Ron Elving and Political Director Domenico Montanaro, along with polling insights from Democratic Pollster Anna Greenberg of Greenberg, Quinlan, Rosner Research and Republican Pollster Patrick Ruffini of Echelon Insights.

NPR's reporters on the ground in Iowa include National Political Correspondent Don Gonyea, White House Correspondent Tamara Keith, Washington Desk Reporter Sam Sanders, Political Reporter Sarah McCammon and Congressional Reporter Susan Davis.
