Beasley Media's Sports Radio WFNZ-AM (The Fan)/Charlotte moves to the FM dial, simulcasting on 102.5 FM. The Sporits outlet initially was only found on WFNZ-AM at 610 and WPOC-HD2 at 103.7. WFNX hit the airwaves in August of 1997 and is the official home for the Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte 49ers Football as well as the Davidson Wildcats and ECU Pirates.
"This is an exciting time for all of us at WFNZ!" said Operations Manager/Program Director D.J. Stout. "It's a true testament to a team who has worked so hard to finally see this happen. It's been amazing to see the growth of our station coincide with Charlotte's growth as a great sports town."
The WFNZ Sports Radio lineup kicks off with "The Mac Attack featuring Chris McClain and Jim Celania" airing 6-10am followed by "The Call Up with Nate and QCB" from 10am-12noon. Former Carolina Panther Frank Garcia hosts "Bustin' Loose with Mark Yarbro" from 12noon-3pm and for the ride home "Prime Time with Chris Kroeger with Hitman and QCB" can be heard weekdays from 3-7pm.
