RADIO ONLINE | Monday, August 22, 2016 |
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Pandora has plans to start a new on-demand streaming service in September. Shares of Pandora Media, Inc. jumped nearly 3.3% on the news.
Reportedly, Pandora will launch two new paid subscription plans while also tweaking its existing plans. The company is also said to be close to striking licensing deals with major record companies.
So far, Pandora hasn't been required to obtain record company permission sans offering any on-demand services. The new option gives users the opportunity to specifically select songs to listen to and, along with international expansion is expected to give a significant boost to the company's listener and subscriber base while creating further options for advertising.
