Slacker Names Wright Country Music Format Captain
RADIO ONLINE | Friday, October 28, 2016 |
Slacker Radio appoints Jess Wright to the newly-created role of Country Music Format Captain. Wright will oversee all things Country from her home office in Nashville, including the programming of Slacker's suite of Country stations, the production of the "Daily Country Music" news and the development of new features. Wright has hosted several Slacker stations since 2013.
Previously, she spent a decade in broadcast radio, with stops in Wichita, Wilkes-Barre, Frederick MD and Memphis. In 2010 she was named Personality of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. In 2013, she took on her most recent role as the Associate Radio Editor at Country Aircheck.
"I'm so excited to be joining the Slacker family," said Wright. "And also about the possibilities of what we can do in the country music world! This format is my love, and I'm looking forward to getting even more deeply involved in promoting the music and artists that make it great."
Slacker VP/Programming Kevin Stapleford added, "Country music has become increasingly important to Slacker, and we are very excited to have someone of Jess' caliber join our team. She knows the music, she knows the artists, and she knows that the best places to eat in Nashville are definitely not on Broadway."
