RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, January 31, 2017 |
Cox Media Group's WSRV 97.1 The River, Atlanta's Classic Hits, has announced plans to celebrate the station's 11th birthday on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Verizon Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Ga. with a concert from Steve Miller Band with Peter Frampton!
"Peter and I first met at Olympic studios in London in the late sixties when we were both just starting our recording careers," said Miller. "He was a wonderful guitarist and songwriter, then and he is even more so today. Over the years, we've played together in venues from theatres to football stadiums and everything in between. He always sets the musical bar high, his band always knocks me out, and I'm thrilled we are going to spend the summer together doing a great run of concerts. This is the kind of quality and talent we both strive to present and I'm looking forward to a summer of great music, exceptional performances and fun."
Chris Eagan, Director of Branding and Programming, said "The River has been rocking Atlanta for eleven years-and we can't wait to blow the candles out on our cake with thousands of our closest friends on July 16."
The station made their debut in 2006 and has been playing Classic Hits for Atlanta rock fans ever since. The current talent lineup includes radio veterans and local legends, Steve Craig, Kaedy Kiely and English Nick. The River's Rockin' Birthday Bash inaugural event, took place on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 and featured Boston and Dennis DeYoung.
Tickets go on sale to the public on Feb. 10, 2017 at 10am.
