Cumulus Media made the official announcement of the debut of Savannah, GA's newest radio station. WZAT-FM is now 102.1 The Sound, The New Sound of Savannah. Formerly branded as NASH Icon 102.1, the station now touts a Hot AC format with core artists like: Adele, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and Pink.
The new station will feature a music-intensive, upbeat "Sound" and bring in syndicated The Bert Show for mornings, along with local DJs throughout the day.
"We are all very excited to debut Savannah's newest radio station, 102.1 The Sound," said Eric Mastel, VP/MM Cumulus Media-Savannah. "After extensive market research, it was overwhelmingly evident that Savannah was asking for a radio station they could call their own. 102.1 The Sound is not only named for the music, but also for the beauty of our home and the water that surrounds us."
Operations Manager Gerald McCracken added, "I'd like to thank Cumulus for the support to make this change and want to thank Mike McVay, Greg Frey, Rob Roberts and especially Eric Mastel. His leadership through this process has been most helpful."
