Hearst's WBAL-AM (NewsRadio 1090) Baltimore recently was the recipient of three awards recognizing WBAL's commitment to news and journalism. The station received two awards for coverage of the deadly bus crash that took place on Tuesday November 1, 2016 in Baltimore. WBAL was honored with a National Headliner Award and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for coverage of this story. In addition, WBAL radio received a second regional Murrow for Excellence in Writing.
These awards are in addition to the recognition WBAL radio earned in 2016 with the National Edward R. Murrow Award and the National Association of Broadcasters' Marconi Award for Large Market Station of the Year in the country.
WBAL President & General Manager Cary Pahigian commented, "We are honored to be recognized with these prestigious awards. Since 1925 our commitment to first rate news coverage for Baltimore and Maryland has been the foundation of WBAL Radio."
WBAL-AM 1090 is the radio home of both the Baltimore Ravens and Navy Football.
