NPR Announces Summer Podcast Lineup
RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, May 16, 2017 |
NPR has announced its upcoming slate of podcasts. The six summer shows include a comedy, and for the first time, a children's show. "We are expanding the range of our programming by giving a platform to new voices, sharing a fun new side of favorite contributors, and doubling down on immersive stories and journalism," said VP/Programming and Audience Development Anya Grundmann.
"Wow In The World" premiered Monday, "Invisibilia" returns June 1 for its third season. "Sam Sanders Project" is set for week of June 19 after a successful run in 2016 and a favorite of the NPR Politics Podcast. "Live From The Poundstone Institute" premieres July 8, "What's Good With Stretch and Bobbito" premieres July 19 and "Rough Translation" is coming in August.
With 36 active programs, NPR has held Podtrac's #1 spot for the 13th month in a row (since Podtrac began counting in May, 2016). NPR podcasts are heard by over 4 million listeners every week -- a 47% increase compared to a year ago.
