TAB Names Brian Purdy Broadcaster of the Year

CBS Radio Dallas Senior VP and Market Manager Brian Purdy was recognized with the Texas Association of Broadcasters' (TAB) "Broadcaster of the Year" award on Thursday, August 10, in Austin. "Every day is a terrific adventure working with our outstanding team, who responsibly inform, entertain, serve and protect Texans throughout the state," said Purdy in accepting the honor. "I wish they all could be standing up here with me right now."
Five industry leaders were honored at TAB's Annual Awards Gala. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Wendell Mayes Jr., while 60-year industry vet Bob White of Corpus Christi was named Pioneer of the Year. The George Marti Award for Engineering Excellence went to Errol Coker at KHCB Radio Network and Dan Sessler of RF Specialties was named Associate of the Year.
"Texas broadcasters have a long tradition of advancing their local communities and businesses, and we can all be especially proud of the leadership that this year's honorees have demonstrated throughout their careers," said TAB President Oscar Rodriguez. "They have helped shape 21st Century Texas by practicing lifesaving journalism, holding public officials accountable, inspiring future leaders and enhancing the technology infrastructure that undergirds all that Radio and TV stations do."
