Beasley Updates on Vegas Massacre, Victim Funds
RADIO ONLINE | Monday, October 2, 2017 |
59 people were killed and over 527 injured when a crazed gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas during a Country music concert on Sunday night. Singer Jason Aldean was on stage when the shooting broke out and ran for cover. The shooter, who had a room full of weapons, was found dead in a hotel room. KCYE morning personality Mike West was on site and captured video. All of the other Beasley Media people on site when the shooting happened are safe.
Beasley's Las Vegas stations have been on-air providing information to listeners. John Shaffer (News Director at News/Talk 720 KDWN) and the KCYE team provided on-going updates as well as encouraging people to donate blood through United Blood Service.
In addition, there is a "family" update/info phone number (1-866-535-5654) and a FB page for people to check-in entitled: The Violent Incident In Las Vegas, where individuals can check in as "safe" and others can check to see if family and friends are safe.
Beasley also suspended its National Cash Contest across the entire company. Instead, it will donate the money that it had planned to giveaway to an official victim's fund. Many who are not local to the Las Vegas area are looking for ways to donate to victims and their families. Clark County Sheriff Lombardo and Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak have set up a GoFundMe page that will "provide relief and financial support to the victims and families" at https://www.gofundme.com/dr2ks2-las-vegas-victims-fund
