Educational Media Foundation has closed its previously announced acquisition of 18kW WLVO-FM (formerly WBRU-FM)/Providence from Brown Broadcasting Service Inc. for $5.63 million. As reported previously, the long-time Brown University student-run radio station is moving to an expanded all-digital platform. Proceeds from the sale will form an endowment for a new media workshop and income from the endowment will support its operations.
