Univision Q3 Total Revs Up 5.9%, Radio Down 10.7%


Univision Communications Inc. reported third quarter total revenue increased 5.9% to $778.2 million from $734.8 million in 2016. Radio revenue fell 9.4% to $64.6 million from $71.3 million. Total core revenue for its radio segment decreased 10.7% to $60.8 million from $68.1 million. Adjusted OIBDA grew 6.9% to $339.8 million compared to $317.9 million. The Spanish-language broadcaster posted a net income of $104 million compared to net loss of $30.5 million in the year-ago period.

"Our financial results for the quarter reflect growth across revenue, net income and Adjusted OIBDA. We continued to reduce our debt and improve our capital structure, highlighted by our $721 million net debt reduction year to date," said Univision President Randy Falco. "We finished as the #1 Spanish Language Network for the 25th consecutive broadcast season and continue to have the #1 Spanish Language Sports and Cable Networks."

Concurrently, Univision extended the company's employment agreement with Falco for an additional two years, through January 31, 2020. "Randy has been the architect of UCI's evolution since 2011, guiding the Company's tremendous expansion, steadily improving Univision's financial performance and significantly improving the balance sheet by paying down debt," commented UCI Chairman of the Board of Directors Haim Saban.
