Alpha Sells Biloxi MS Cluster to TeleSouth Communications

Alpha Media has agreed to sell six radio outlets in Biloxi, MS, to TeleSouth Communications. Terms were not immediately disclosed. Included in the deal are 1kW WANG-AM (1490), 10kW WTNI-AM (1640), 50kW WCPR-FM (97.9), 4.3kW WGBL-FM (96.7), 25kw WQBB-FM (105.9) and 2.8kW WXYK-FM (107.1). TeleSouth is a Mississippi-based company headed by Stephen Davenport. It owns or operates 21 stations in 12 different markets. The company will immediately divest WXYK-FM in order to meet the FCC's market cap.
Alpha Media, is an Oregon-based company that owns 207 stations in 45 markets pending the completion of all announced transactions. Alpha Media CEO/President Bob Proffitt commented, "We are happy our group of great broadcasters in Biloxi/Gulfport are being sold to a good operator located in the state of Mississippi that is dedicated to live and local. We have a special place for everyone at these stations and wish them the very best."
Kalil & Co. broked the transaction for both parties.
