Urban One/Columbus, OH has entered into a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) to assume operating control of 15kW Alternative WWCD-FM (102.5) from Southern Ohio Broadcasting System. The company is moving into the local Hispanic radio market by flipping the station to "La Grande 102.5 FM," effective Friday, November 6 at 10am. The new Regional Mexican and Tropical format, will allow Urban One to reach the Hispanic audience in Central Ohio with La Grande and WQMC-TV (Telemundo Columbus). Urban One acquired the Telemundo Columbus affiliation in January.

"We are pleased to expand our footprint again in Central Ohio by reaching the fastest growing segment of the population, inclusive of the Mexican community and growing Central and South American communities," said Regional Vice President Eddie Harrell Jr. "Combined with our African American targeted radio/television assets, we are now the largest single source provider of content to African Americans and Spanish speaking residents in Central Ohio"

Urban One says census data over the past couple decades have demonstrated that Central Ohio is a welcoming region to live, work, and raise a family for Spanish speaking residents. Additionally, the company will provide marketing solutions to clients in the market that cater to the Spanish speaking audience.

With the addition of WWCD, Urban One Columbus has grown its Ohio footprint by operating WQMC-TV that holds the affiliate networks of Telemundo to super-serve the Columbus Hispanic community. While Bounce TV Columbus and Urban stations Power 107.5/106.3, Magic 95.5 and Joy 107.1 will continue to serve the African American community.
