WKYS/Washington Welcomes New Program Director

Radio One Washington, DC, appoints Joshua "J1" Raiford as Program Director of Urban WKYS-FM, effective Monday, July 17. Raiford joins WKYS-FM from Radio One's co-owned cluster in Indianapolis where he was Program Director for Rhythmic CHR WHHH-FM (Hot 96.3) and W275BD-FM (Boom 102.9) and weekend personality on Hot 96.3. Originally from Harlem, NY, he earned his bachelor's degree from Morehouse College and advanced in the radio industry while earning his masters from Georgia State University.

"I'm humbled, honored and excited about this great opportunity. I thank God first and foremost, and I would also like to thank Jay Stevens, Jeff Wilson, and Kashon Powell for selecting me for this tremendous responsibility," said Raiford.

"J1 is a great addition to our team here in DC. His knowledge, passion, and drive make him the perfect choice to lead WKYS," added Operations Manager Kashon Powell.
