Legendary NY Air Personality Dan Ingram Dead at 83

Legendary air personality Dan Ingram, who career spanned 50 years in the radio industry, has died. He was 83. Ingram began his career in 1958, working for stations in the 1950's and early 60's such as WIL/St. Louis and KBOX/Dallas before moving to New York. He aired on on WABC-AM from 1961 to 1982, along with WCBS-FM from 1992-2003. He was known as "The Thinking Man's DJ" whose wit, wordplay and warmth endeared him to his audience.
According to WCBS, Ingram was born on September 7, 1934 in Oceanside, NY He studied broadcasting at Hofstra University and started his career working at stations in New Rochelle, Patchogue, Bridgeport and New Haven before moving to WIL/St. Louis.
Ingram is a member of the St. Louis Media Hall of Fame and he was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2007.
