RADIO ONLINE | Saturday, July 7, 2018 |
The Confer Radio Talent Institute opens Monday on the campus of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Sessions over the ten-day Institute cover almost every aspect of radio -- from sales to on-air in music radio, sports, news, production, promotions, digital, social media and engineering. 22 students have been accepted from eight universities, including Susquehanna University, Clarion University, Temple, Stockton, Alvernia University, Pace University, and California University of Pennsylvania, as well as Bloomsburg University.
The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters joins with Kerby Confer to underwrite the institute. PAB President Joe Conti stated, "We are so impressed with the Confer Radio Talent Institute. The PAB is proud to enthusiastically support this effort to discover and prepare the next generation of broadcasters."
Lifelong broadcaster Kerby Confer commented, "We want to make a difference and give this next generation a firm foundation in the industry. We are going to birth a whole new generation of radio people, and are so pleased the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters offer both their time and financial support, investing in radio's future".
Sessions are led by 35 broadcasters, each in their area of expertise, with Erica Farber, President of the RAB, doing the opening session, followed by radio pros from Forever Media, Seven Mountains Media, Entercom, iHeartMedia, Cumulus, the Philadelphia Phillies and 76ers and Jim Loftus from WBEB in Philadelphia, among others.
Dan Vallie stated, "It is more than exciting to watch the Talent System grow and to have the support of Joe Conti and the PAB joining Kerby Confer in the Confer Radio Talent Institute. When you look at these students/future broadcasters, the future of our industry looks very bright indeed".
