E.W. Scripps Co. Radio VP and longtime Milwaukee radio veteran Steve Wexler will return as General Manager of News/Talk WTMJ-AM and Country WKTI-FM (94.5 KTI Country) after the two stations were sold to Good Karma Brands in July for $16 million, reports the Milwaukee Business Journal. He'll begin his leadership post at the two stations sometime in October or November. Wexler replaces Tom Langmyer, who announced his departure after five years on Thursday in a memo to his staff.
"It's been a true honor to lead our group over these past 5 years," Langmyer wrote. "I'm extremely proud of our terrific team - and honored to have had the opportunity to work with you. I will leave Radio City with a fond place in my heart for you and these terrific stations. I'll continue to be a cheerleader for the team and for you, individually, for more chapters of personal and group success."
Wexler began his broadcast career in 1977 as an intern at WTMJ which was then owned by Journal Communications. He hosted programs for WTMJ and WKTI in the late 1970s and early 1980s before leaving the company to become an air personality and Program Manager at Hearst Broadcasting's WISN-AM in 1985. In 2007, he returned to Milwaukee as VP/GM of WTMJ-TV, WTMJ-AM and WKTI-FM in addition to his corporate regional role. In 2014, he relinquished GM duties to become Journal VP/Radio.
