Beasley Media Group Makes Moves at Charlotte Cluster

Jack Daniel
Jack Daniel

Jack Daniel is named as the new Program Director for Country WSOC-FM (The New 103.7) WSOC-FM and Southern Rock W234BY (94.7 Smoke) in Charlotte. He'll continue his role as the afternoon host on co-owned AC WKQC-FM (K104.7). Daniel is 47-year radio vet and has been on the Charlotte airwaves since 1975, having spent much of his career there. He has served in a variety of capacities, including PD, VP/GM, OM, MD and as an air personality.

Concurrently, Philip Tabakelis (aka Big Sexy) is named Assistant Program Director for The New 103.7 FM. Big Sexy began his career at the station back in 2006, when he was hired to work in the promotion department. It didn't take the radio personality long to move to the nights and weekends air shift. In August, 2009, he became the permanent night show host of "The Big Sexy Show."

Additionally, Mimi Wheeler (pictured) has added the title of Music Director to her duties at WSOC. She'll continue in her roles as a co-host of the "Tanner in the Morning Show" and as the Assistant Digital Program Director. Wheeler has over eight years of experience in the radio industry, having also served as an air talent, Music Director and Promotions Director in the Raleigh and Greensboro markets.

"This is going to be an incredible team who will work hard, have fun and continue the long-running legacy of the radio station," said Beasley Media Group Charlotte VP/Market Manager Bill Schoening. "I am looking forward to seeing all of the exciting and creative work they will all produce."

"After an exhaustive nationwide search, we found the most ideal and experienced programming team for WSOC within the walls of the station," added Executive VP/Programming Justin Chase. "At Beasley, we always look for ways to promote from within. I'm proud that we were able to this time with Mimi, Phillip and Jack."
