Play-By-Play Talent Howie Rose to Be Inducted into NYSB HoF

Entercom's WCBS-AM (WCBS 880) New York Mets play-by-play broadcaster Howie Rose has been selected to the 2019 class of the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors players, executives, broadcasters, team staff and other influential members in baseball in the state of New York. Rose will be honored at an induction ceremony on November 3 in Troy, NY. He's served as lead play-by-play broadcaster for Mets baseball since 2006 on sister WFAN-AM & FM and WOR-AM/New York.
Rose had a previous stint with WFAN from 1987 to 1995, holding various roles including host of "Mets Extra," pregame and postgame host for Mets broadcasts and play-by-play broadcaster for New York Rangers hockey games. He also served as television play-by-play announcer for Mets baseball games for FOX Sports New York/MSG from 1996 to 2003 and New York Islanders hockey games for Fox Sports New York since 1995 to 2016.
"Howie is an iconic voice for the New York Mets franchise and has served as a stalwart for the team's coverage for over three decades," said Entercom New York Regional President/Market Manager Susan Larkin. "This distinguished honor further cements Howie's stature in the sports broadcasting industry and we're proud that he is part of our team."
"Howie is certainly one of the very best announcers in sports history," said Rene M. LeRoux, Executive Director, New York State Baseball Hall of Fame. "His record of broadcast excellence in multiple sports is well documented."
"I'd like to thank the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame for including me in an impressive group of inductees this year," said Rose. "I'm honored to be part of a collection of some of the biggest names in baseball history."
Rose has been honored for his career in broadcasting, including two Emmy Awards, a Broadcast Media Award from the Nassau County Sports Commission, a Dick Young Award from the New York Baseball Scouts and a New York State Sports Broadcasters Award. Rose was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 2012.
