Report: Police Seek Info from Seth Dunlap's Cellphone
RADIO ONLINE | Friday, October 4, 2019 |
New Orleans police have obtained a search warrant seeking information from WWL host Seth Dunlap's cellphone, in an investigation regarding allegations of extortion, according to multiple law enforcement sources, reports WWL-TV. Last month, WWL parent Entercom claims a homophobic message targeting Dunlap that was sent from the radio station's Twitter account was sent by Dunlap himself. The warrant seeks information from from Dunlap's provider, T-Mobile.
According to an NOPD report, WWL made the claim after it hired a forensic specialist who examined the station's "Internet system, software and hardware." The News/Talk outlet told the NOPD that the forensic investigation found an IP address that may be connected to the tweet that was associated with Dunlap's phone reported WWL-TV.
WWL alleges Dunlap sent the Twitter post and then demanded nearly $2 million from the station, citing the insult and threatening workplace harassment-related litigation. Dunlap was facing significant personal financial strain, according to the station. Dunlap's attorney Megan Kiefer disputs the claims, saying the radio station has not done anything to prove them and Dunlap has passed a polygraph test.
