Waterloo Media Names Barstow Austin City Limits Radio PD

Austin-based Waterloo Media taps veteran radio programmer Lynn Barstow from Alternative KROX-FM (101X) to also oversee its sister brand Austin City Limits Radio on KGSR-FM-HD2 as Program Director, effective immediately. The announcement follows the resignation of ACLR's Emily Parker, who is pursuing interests outside the radio business. A Houston native, Barstow has spent nearly 20 years in Austin, programming KROX for the last 15. He previously programmed Austin Alternative KNNC-FM (K-NACK) in the early 1990's.

"As a brand, Austin City Limits has been iconic through nearly my entire life; the TV show was a formative force in shaping my music tastes; Austin City Limits Festival and the ACL Live venue have lived up to the television show's greatness, and I'm here to help ensure that the radio station and its events continue to do so, too. Having a staff as well-versed in music's role in Austin as Andy (Langer), Loris (Lowe) and Chris (Mosser) puts us well on the way," said Barstow.

Impending changes in the ACL Radio on-air lineup after Parker's exit include the addition of newcomer Ariana Quiroz from Waterloo's digital content staff and the increased profile of Marketing Director Stephanie Perez, who has been serving as weekend on-air talent in addition to her behind-the-scenes duties.

In 2018, Austin City Limits Radio evolved from KGSR/Austin, which launched as an AAA station in 1990. KGSR's chief tenets were to be about quality music across all genres, super-serving the city's music community and Austin as a whole. Its own iconic events -- Zilker Park's Blues On The Green and Unplugged At The Grove at Shady Grove -- have drawn thousands of Austinites for live music experiences for decades. Both continue under the ACL Radio brand.
