J. Mike Cox Named Program Director of WHCB 91.5/Blountville, TN

Appalachian Educational Communications has announced the appointment of J. Mike Cox as Program Director of WHCB 91.5FM serving the Tri-Cities, VA/TN area. WHCB is a non-profit, Educational, non-commercial Christian radio facility that broadcasts to portions of five states from its studios in Blountville. Cox will also assist Dr. Kenneth Hill, General Manager. Hill noted the position had been open for quite some time adding, "WHCB is a unique station with a need for a program director that has an understanding of the people who listen to and support this station. I think J. Mike Cox will do a great job for us."

Cox began volunteering for WHCB in 1997 while a student at King University. He became a paid employee in 1999 as a production assistant. In the years following, Cox earned his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from East Tennessee State University in 2002 and his Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2017. He, most recently served as Production Coordinator and Staff Meteorologist for WHCB 91.5 FM.

"Heralding Christ's Blessings has been a focus of WHCB's ministry for over 35 years. I am simultaneously humbled and excited at this new challenge to help lead the ministry in the future," said Cox.
